Specialist College Students Celebrate Examination Success

Students at the William Henry Smith Specialist College are celebrating a wide range of achievements in this year’s examination results, with successes across A levels, GCSEs, technical qualifications and nationally recognised arts awards.

The College is particularly proud of its A-level students, with all three students who sat A levels achieving the grades required to secure a place at university. This represents a 100% university progression rate for the A-level cohort, with every student successfully achieving their intended next step.

Among the individual successes was Dylan Thomas, who achieved an A in English Literature, an outstanding result and a reflection of his dedication and hard work throughout his studies.

Students also achieved a range of GCSE qualifications across a broad curriculum. Four students achieved English, while three students achieved GCSE Biology, with further qualifications achieved in Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Film Studies, Mathematics, English Literature and Art.

The breadth of achievement is particularly significant within a Specialist College setting, where students follow individualised programmes designed around their strengths, interests, aspirations and future pathways. The results reflect not only academic attainment but also the progress and commitment demonstrated by students throughout their time at the college.

There were also notable achievements in technical and creative subjects. Lewis Ellis Roberts achieved a Level 1 Distinction in the Technical Award for Art and Design, recognising his achievement in a specialist creative qualification.

The College’s students also enjoyed considerable success in the Trinity Arts Awards. Two students achieved their Silver Arts Award, while a further five students achieved Gold, demonstrating a commitment to developing their creative skills.

In AQA Science, three students also successfully achieved their qualification, adding to the breadth of academic success across the college.

It is always such a special time when we see our learners receive their results. We know how much work, determination and courage has gone into getting to this point. Every learner has their own journey and their own goals, and it is fantastic to see so many of them taking their next steps with qualifications they can be proud of. Well done to every one of them.

Leanne Clarke, Co-Principal

For the students completing their studies, the results represent an important milestone and, for those progressing to university, the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

The College congratulates every student on their achievements and recognises the hard work, determination and resilience that have gone into reaching these outcomes. Staff and families have also played an important role in supporting students throughout their studies.

Congratulations to all of our students on their achievements.
