Students at the William Henry Smith School and Sixth Form are celebrating a broad range of achievements across GCSEs, Entry Level qualifications, vocational awards and specialist programmes today.

This year’s results reflect the different pathways available to our students, with achievements spanning traditional academic subjects, creative disciplines, ICT, construction and Skills for Life qualifications.

GCSE achievements

Students achieved qualifications across a range of GCSE subjects, including Biology, English, Mathematics, Photography, Chemistry, Physics and Art.

There were further achievements in History and Mathematics at Entry Level. Three students completed Entry Level History and three completed Entry Level Mathematics, providing valuable recognition of their progress and attainment.

In ICT, a student achieved a BTEC First Award in ICT at Level 2, adding a vocational qualification to the range of academic achievements.

Success in Construction

There was particularly strong participation and achievement across the City & Guilds Construction qualifications. Two students completed the City & Guilds Entry Level 3 Certificate in Construction, while a further two students achieved an Entry Level Award.

We also saw significant success in City & Guilds Entry Level Construction Skills, with nine students achieving the Entry Level 3 Award and four achieving the Entry Level 3 Certificate.

These qualifications provide students with practical experience and recognised skills which can support progression into further education, training and employment.

We are very proud of our students and all they have achieved this year. Every result represents hard work, commitment and progress, and it is fantastic to see so many students achieving qualifications across such a wide range of subjects. We would like to congratulate them all and wish them every success for the future.

Skills for Life

Students also achieved strong outcomes in City & Guilds Skills for Life qualifications. Eight students achieved the Entry Level 2 qualification, with a further 15 students progressing to achieve the Entry Level 3 Award. These qualifications recognise important practical and functional skills and support students as they prepare for their next steps beyond school.

Celebrating individual pathways

The breadth of this year’s results reflects the individual pathways followed by students across the school and sixth form. Alongside GCSE study, students have had opportunities to develop practical, vocational and life skills through nationally recognised qualifications.

From academic subjects such as Biology, English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, through to Art and Photography, ICT, Construction and Skills for Life, the results demonstrate the range of opportunities available to support individual aspirations and future plans.

We would like to congratulate all students on their achievements and recognise the hard work, determination and commitment that they have shown throughout the year.
